Fauna Replaces Legendary Starr Boggs in Westhampton Beach

Fauna, a new restaurant in Westhampton Beach recently opened up, replacing the long time eatery Starr Boggs. Chef Starr Boggs had been a staple in the Hamptons for four decades. News of the sale hit the streets this winter. Boggs died this March at 70-years-old.

“Boggs was truly a Westhampton legend,” Dan’s Papers wrote in his obituary. “His restaurant was one of the longest-running, most popular restaurants in the Hamptons. It had a presence in Westhampton Beach every summer since 1985 — with one exception in 2003 — across four different locations.”

The new owner is the group behind Flora also in Westhampton Beach and Cowfish in Hampton Bays. Fauna on Parlato Drive, which is a little off the beaten path in Westhampton Beach, will now be a sister restaurant to Flora on Main Street.

So far, reviews on Yelp are all positive with two five-star ratings.

Eleanor K said that although Starr is gone he is not forgotten by the new restaurateurs.

“It makes the many locals and summer residents that frequented Starr Boggs weekly for many years feel as though it’s not all gone,” she wrote. “As for the food at Fauna you won’t be disappointed. They kept an “Ode to Starr” favorite almond crusted flounder but, also have an excellent menu. From appetizers to dessert I know everyone will find something they love. This is part of the Rooted restaurant group opening their 2nd restaurant in Westhampton Beach. So if you Love Flora like I do, you’ll probably Love Fauna as well.”

Kristi W, from Brooklyn, agreed.

“So much potential to be fabulous,” she wrote. “Service was great, attentive at the right times. Can’t wait to come back!”

Location: 6 Parlato Drive, Westhampton Beach.
