Toast Port Jefferson Closes Doors, Reopening in Port Jeff Station

On Sunday, Toast in Port Jefferson closed its doors for the last time in the village. Opened 20 years ago, Toast has been the go-to breakfast spot for so many visitors and locals, a funky place with great food to match at 242 East Main Street.

“It was bittersweet to close the doors to our Port Jefferson location today,” the restaurant posted on Facebook. “Thank you for all the memories and laughs shared over the last 20 years. We look forward to showing you what we’ve been working on in Port Jeff Station and the exciting next step for our cozy village spot!”

The new Toast will open this week in Port Jefferson Station at 650 Route 112. The location has changed hands many times over the years – it was previously Mr. P’s Southern Skillet, which closed in 2019. Before that it was known as LI Pour House.

The new restaurant location allows Toast to serve more patrons and do catering. On East Main Street, the restaurant had already expanded once years ago into a neighboring space but there were always lines and waits especially during peak times for the popular spot. Some of the charm of the original Toast on East Main Street was its proximity to the walkable village of Port Jefferson and its funky interior that featured the work of local artists.

Owner, Terry Scarlatos, isn’t abandoning the space altogether. He is planning something new for the old Toast spot, which will be unveiled soon.
