Originating in Taiwan, bubble tea has taken over Long Island in recent years. The drink is mixed with milk or fruit and tapioca pearls called boba. Gong Cha – Founded in Taiwan; Gong Cha, which translates to “tribute tea for the emperor” has two locations on Long Island: Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City and Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove. The company recently purchased a building in Hauppauge so may have plans to expand to more locations.

Yaas Tea – Delivering bubble tea, coffee, and desserts, Yaas has already won best bubble tea on Long Island for 2022. The Brown Sugar BOBO is a popular drink on their menu with brown sugar boba mixed with organic milk topped with savory cheezo cream and caramelized brown sugar ($5.95) as well as the Taro Milk Tea, a sweet drink with subtle hints of vanilla and a nutty flavor, presented in a vividly purple color, shaken with organic whole milk and ice ($5.95).
