Who doesn’t love a good milkshake? Whether you’re into the straight up classic vanilla or want a mind-blowing concoction, there are plenty of options here on Long Island. All American

A Long Island institution since 1963, this place makes the list of best milkshakes. Classic burger joint with classic shakes that come in three basic flavors: chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry.

Location: 4286 Merrick Road, Massapequa.

Shake Shack

It’s in the name of this national chain with locations all over Long Island. Why not try the Chocolate Pie that has in it chocolate ganache toasted oat pie from Four & Twenty Blackbirds hand spun with chocolate frozen custard, topped with croissant cookie crumbles. Or the Wake & Shake with Red Bay coffee hand spun with vanilla frozen custard, maple syrup, and orange zest, topped with whipped cream and orange candies.

Go Burger

This local burger joint has two locations. They serve up the classic three flavors (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry) as well as creating weekly shake specials that you can find on their Facebook or Instagram pages. Previous specials included Lucky Charm, Chocolate Caramel Swirl, and Strawberry Cheesecake.

Burgerology

This popular burger joint has been expanding all across the island and their milkshake creations are some of the most innovative around. Try the Campfire “A Sm’more in a Glass” which is vanilla ice cream graham crackers, chocolate syrup, roasted marshmallows, and whipped cream (coated with graham crackers) or the Green Gravity made from homemade mint ice cream, fudge brownie chunks, chocolate syrup and whipped cream (coated with chocolate sprinkles).

Cloud Nine

You want to infuse a milkshake with my favorite cereal? Sign me up! Get a your milkshake with two cereals, a topping and one drizzle. They have 18 cereals to choose from on the menu including Captain Crunch, Honey Nut Cheerios, Apple Jacks, Fruity Pebbles, and Lucky Charms.

Sweet Treats on the Wharf (Douglas & James)

Perennial winner of the best milkshakes on Long Island, Sweet Treats on the Wharf, serves Douglas & James Homemade Ice Cream at their classic shop. It’s somewhat of a dynasty winning four years in a row. Online reviewers rave and the flavors are mouth-wateringly sweet. They’re a seasonal operation, so you have to wait until the middle of April until you can get a taste.

Location: 405 Main Street, Port Washington.
