Blue Point Brewing Company Unveils Blitz Lager: A Lightning Beer for Winter Cheer
Blue Point Brewing Company, Long Island’s original craft brewery, has debuted its newest creation, Blitz Lager, a crisp, refreshing American lager brewed for high-energy fun during the colder months. Blitz Lager, which translates to “lightning beer,” is part of Blue Point’s winter seasonal lineup and will be available from November through February. With its 4.8% ABV and carefully crafted recipe, Blitz offers unmatched drinkability while maintaining the craftsmanship that beer enthusiasts expect from Blue Point.
At the heart of Blitz Lager’s appeal is its meticulous brewing process. A blend of pilsner malt and flaked rice creates a clean, bright foundation, ensuring a smooth and approachable taste. The addition of Tettnanger hops, a traditional German variety, brings subtle notes of spice and floral aromas, while Calista hops introduce a hint of fruity complexity, with whispers of peach and citrus. Combined, these ingredients form a refreshing beer with a crisp, balanced finish.
According to Blue Point Brewing Company, Blitz was crafted to highlight the best qualities of an American lager—bright, clean, and incredibly sessionable. The brewery notes that the beer’s versatility makes it perfect for everything from festive gatherings to high-energy events like concerts and sports games.
First unveiled on tap at the brewery in Patchogue, Blitz Lager stood out for its smooth sessionability and nuanced flavor. Previously known as Shouganai, it earned a Silver Medal at the 2023 Great American Beer Festival in the Contemporary American-Style Lager category.
Blitz is now available in 6-packs and 12-packs of 12oz cans, as well as on draft at the brewery and select retailers along the East Coast.
