Dawat, Modern Indian Bistro and Bar, Opening in Port Washington
A new neighborhood dining destination arrives in Port Washington in March 2026: Dawat, a modern Indian bistro and bar from veteran chef and restaurateur Santokh Singh, opening at 611 Port Washington Boulevard.
True to its name, which means “an invitation to a feast,” Dawat will offer a menu centered on authentic Indian cuisine, from curries and tandoori specialties to popular street-food favorites, alongside approachable bistro fare. The experience is rounded out by a full-service bar with craft cocktails, curated wines, beer, and spirits, with dine-in, takeout, and catering available.
A familiar name in New York’s Indian dining scene, Chef Singh brings decades of experience to the North Shore. He began his career at the original Dawat on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, later served as Head Chef at the acclaimed Tamarind, and most recently was partner and co-owner of Mahal in Roslyn Heights. At Dawat, he returns to a hands-on role in the kitchen, pairing bold flavors with warm hospitality.
“Dawat is about flavor and connection,” Singh says. “It’s a space where food is shared, stories are exchanged, and everyone is welcome.”
Stay tuned for the official opening date and special events as Dawat prepares to welcome the Long Island community.”
