Fire Devastates Sayville Small Businesses, Chamber of Commerce Launches Fundraiser for Recovery
A fire tore through several small businesses on Main Street in Sayville on Friday, devastating a number of beloved local establishments just as the holiday season approaches. In response, the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce has launched a relief fund to aid the affected businesses, which include Paper Doll Vintage Boutique, Boris Barber Shop, and the former location of Cafe Joelle.
The fire, which occurred in a multi-story building in the heart of Sayville, impacted more than a dozen businesses on Main Street. Among those significantly damaged are Paper Doll Vintage Boutique, known for its unique retro fashions; Boris Barber Shop; and Hammer & Stain, a DIY craft studio. The Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce has set up the “Main Street Fire Relief Fund” to support the businesses impacted by the blaze as they navigate the challenging months ahead.
Eileen Tyznar, a representative for the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce, urged the community to rally together during this difficult time.
“This is a heartbreaking loss for our Main Street, especially with the holiday season around the corner when these businesses typically see a much-needed boost in foot traffic,” Tyznar said in a fundraising post. “We hope the community can come together to support the recovery efforts for these beloved establishments.”
The fundraiser comes as the holiday season—an essential period for local businesses—draws near. The chamber’s dedicated relief fund allows the public to contribute online, with donations going directly to business owners in need. Contributions can be made via the Sayville Main Street Fire Relief Fund, or by mailing a check with “Main Street Fire Relief Fund” in the memo line to the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 235, Sayville, NY 11782.
“No amount is too small. Every dollar raised will go straight to those affected by this unfortunate event, helping them rebuild and stay in business,” Tyznar added.
