Long Island Chefs Rally to Support Crescent Duck Farm

Long Island’s top chefs are coming together to support Crescent Duck Farm in Aquebogue after the devastating bird flu outbreak forced the euthanization of all its ducks and left more than 40 workers unemployed.

For over a century, Crescent Duck Farm has been a cornerstone of Long Island’s rich duck farming heritage. Established in 1908, this family-run farm has weathered numerous challenges, from economic downturns to environmental regulations. However, the recent avian influenza outbreak has forced the farm to cull nearly 100,000 ducks, casting uncertainty over its future.

On Feb. 28, Tellers Next Door in Islip will host “Flock Together: A Culinary Tribute to Crescent Duck Farm”, featuring a lineup of renowned chefs, local wines, and spirits. The event will raise funds to assist the laid-off workers and help the farm rebuild.

Participating chefs include:

  • Francis Derby (Shands General)
  • Ben Hoffman (Prime: An American Kitchen & Bar)
  • Christian Mir (Stone Creek Inn)
  • Steve Gallagher (The Trattoria)
  • Armond Joseph (Léon 1909)
  • Steve Rizzo (Off the Block Meats)
  • Berenice de Araujo (North Fork Table & Inn)
  • Keenan Boyle (Tall Mutha Shucka Oysters)
  • Ryan Hardy (Delicious Hospitality Group)

Drinks will be donated by Montauk Brewing Co., Wölffer Estate Vineyard, and The Better Man Distilling Co.

There’s a glimmer of hope—there are reports that some eggs were recovered and are now hatching in a safe location. While it will take time to fully restart operations, the future looks promising.
