Pizza Hut Pilots Modern Restaurant Design, Highlighting Innovation and Sustainability
Pizza Hut has debuted a groundbreaking restaurant concept in Plano, Texas, aimed at elevating customer convenience and showcasing the chain’s commitment to innovation. The updated location features cutting-edge technology, a reimagined layout, and a sustainability-focused design.
Located at 8605 Ohio Drive, the restaurant includes digital-forward amenities such as self-service kiosks, contactless pick-up cabinets, and Pizza Hut’s first-ever “Hut ‘N Go” drive-thru menu in the U.S. The drive-thru option offers a streamlined selection of “ready-now” items, designed for quick ordering and retrieval.
“From its physical layout to its modern design and digital-forward capabilities, this new restaurant showcases Pizza Hut’s legacy of innovation and unique ability to meet changing guest needs in ways that are distinctive to our brand,” said Aaron Powell, Chief Executive Officer of Pizza Hut.
In addition to these technological advancements, the restaurant offers a guest-facing pizza-making station, allowing diners to observe their meals being prepared—a nod to the quality and craftsmanship that define the brand.
Sustainable Features
Pizza Hut has incorporated several eco-conscious elements into the restaurant’s design. Energy-efficient lighting, advanced ovens with in-vent hoods, auto-lift fryers, and an Energy Management System (EMS) were installed to reduce the environmental footprint. The sustainability measures reflect the company’s broader commitments outlined in the Yum! Brands Global Citizenship & Sustainability Report.
A Global First in the U.S.
While this concept is new to the U.S., the design has already been implemented in over 80 markets worldwide, with data showing that it improves the guest experience and drives increased traffic.
“Featured in nearly 2,000 Pizza Huts worldwide, we’ve seen how this restaurant design brings the brand to life with a distinctive, modern exterior, an effortless blend of physical and digital touchpoints, and increased human interaction around the joy of pizza,” said Joseph Call, Global Chief Development Officer for Pizza Hut.
A Vision for the Future
Replacing a 25-year-old location, the updated restaurant offers a significant aesthetic transformation both inside and out, with a sleek and modern design. This concept marks a step forward in Pizza Hut’s 65-year journey of innovation, which has included iconic introductions such as the Original Pan Pizza and Stuffed Crust Pizza.
“This location goes beyond a restaurant redesign; it embodies Pizza Hut’s creativity and vision for the brand’s future,” said Kalen Thornton, Global Chief Brand Officer for Pizza Hut.
Although there are no plans yet to introduce this new format to Long Island, the concept sets a precedent for the future of Pizza Hut locations across the U.S.
