Pizza Hut to Close 250 Locations Nationwide Amid Drop in Sales

Amid a slowdown in sales and economic uncertainty, Pizza Hut announced this week that they will be closing 250 of their over 6,000 restaurant locations nationwide.

The announcement was made by the chain’s parent company, Yum! Brands, during a Wednesday, February 4 earnings call with investors, with the chain noting a sales drop of one percent in Q4 2025.

In contrast, other brands in Yum!’s portfolio, such as Kentucky Friend Chicken and Taco Bell, saw improved sales, raising the company’s overall sales by three percent in the same time frame.

Yum! CEO Chris Turner said during the call that the company would be going through all options available to them to increase profitability, especially when it comes to the struggling Pizza Hut brand, including potentially selling it off if its fortunes do not improve.

“As of now, we intend to complete the review of options this year,” CEO Chris Turner said. “Given the ongoing nature of the process at this time, we cannot share further details on the strategic review.”

Issues plaguing the well-known pizza chain include competition from other similar franchises and the overall economy that has caused families to re-think their dining budgets.

It was not revealed as of press time which 250 Pizza Hut locations would be put on the chopping block.
