Starbucks Brings Holiday Cheer to Long Island with Festive Cup Designs and Handwritten Names

Starbucks is ringing in the holiday season with fresh, festive cup designs and the return of personalized handwritten names on cups, beginning November 7th, according to a company press release. Starbucks locations across Long Island and nationwide will be adorned with holiday decor and the seasonal cup collection as the coffee giant introduces new touches to bring back the cozy, coffeehouse experience for customers.

The 2024 holiday cup lineup includes four distinct hot cup designs and one cold cup, each inspired by the season’s warmth and joy. Starbucks’ creative director, Kristy Cameron, shared that the team focused on creating designs that convey a festive spirit, combining the brand’s iconic green and cranberry red with soft pastel shades.

Patterns on the cups range from cheerful polka dots and peppermint swirls to flowing “siren waves” inspired by the Starbucks logo, capturing elements like coffee trees and lights toasting.

In a nod to Starbucks tradition, the company is reviving its practice of handwriting customer names on drink orders, a detail that started in 2012 but has faded in recent years. CEO Brian Niccol announced during an earnings call that the change is intended to add a “human touch” to the Starbucks experience.

“It’s a large undertaking,” Niccol explained, noting the logistical effort to source approximately 200,000 Sharpies to outfit stores nationwide.

Along with personalized names on cups, Starbucks is reintroducing self-serve sugar and milk stations, which were removed during the pandemic in 2020. The return of these stations reflects customer feedback and aims to streamline the coffeehouse feel at Starbucks stores. Niccol also revealed that starting November 7, Starbucks will no longer charge for non-dairy milk options, such as almond, soy, oat, and coconut milk, allowing customers greater flexibility in customizing their orders without an additional fee. This change aligns with Starbucks’ goal to make their beverages more accessible to all preferences.

Long Island Starbucks locations will reflect these updates starting November 7, offering residents a more personalized and festive experience as they sip their holiday beverages. Whether it’s through the vibrant new cup designs or the revived tradition of handwritten names, Starbucks is set to bring a touch of holiday spirit to its Long Island coffee lovers this season.
