Upscale Comfort Food Cafe Founder Has Homecoming As The Granola Bar Opens First Long Island Location
Julie Mountain, one of the two founders of The Granola Bar, a café and restaurant known for its elevated comfort food and community-first approach, is bringing her restaurant home with its first Long Island location in Woodbury.
This is the eighth storefront for the brand and its first on Long Island, following the successful launch of its first location on the Upper West Side of Manhattan earlier this year. The Woodbury location will be opened later this month but no date is available yet, according to a representative of the company.
Founded by Mountain and Dana Noorily, The Granola Bar first opened in Westport, Connecticut in 2013. The brand’s mission is to create a “home-away-from-home” for diners, with a focus on feel-good comfort food served throughout the day. The Woodbury location will offer both dine-in and takeout options, along with catering services and the ability to rent the restaurant for private events.
“We’re beyond excited to open The Granola Bar’s first Long Island location,” said Mountain, who was born and raised in Masspequa. “Bringing our fresh, delicious, and vibrant breakfast, lunch, and brunch menu to the community I love is like coming home, and we’re eager to welcome everyone with open arms and big smiles.”
The Woodbury location is in the Woodbury Common shopping center. The full menu will include popular items like yogurt parfaits, avocado toast, salads, sandwiches, smoothies, and specialty coffees, as well as a full bar for cocktails. Catering services will be available for both homes and businesses, and the space includes a private dining room for gatherings, with the option to rent the entire restaurant for events any night of the week. Bright and welcoming in the morning, the space becomes more intimate and cozy for lunch and transforms into a stylish, dimly lit venue in the evening, perfect for private events.
Mountain and Noorily first joined forces over a decade ago, leveraging their backgrounds in music and finance to launch a granola brand, O.A.T.S. Granola. After finding success at farmers markets and Whole Foods, they decided to expand their vision into a full café experience. The Westport flagship opened in 2013, and the brand has since expanded to seven additional locations across Connecticut, New York City, and now Long Island.
“We’re thrilled to see The Granola Bar family growing,” said Noorily. “This new Woodbury location represents our commitment to bringing a sense of community and delicious experiences to more people.”
