Taste of Mumbai Opens in Hicksville

Taste of Mumbai recently opened up in Hicksville offering authentic Indian food with their own flourish. Most of their menu items come with a description of the regions where dishes originate.

Apps include Lasuni Gobi, mini cauliflower tossed with tomato, garlic and cilantro, a dish from the Himalayan rim ($8.99) and Ragada Patties, iced potato patties, layered with chickpeas and herbs, which is a street snack from Delhi ($6.99).

The menu features Masala Dosa described on the menu as a paper-thin rice and lentil crêpe stuffed with spiced potatoes and peas, served with coconut chutney from the Coromandel Coast ($8.99) and Murgh Malai Kebab, chicken breast marinated with yogurt, white pepper and sour cream from the Mughal dynasty ($12.99)

On Yelp, Sohini W, from Southampton, gave Taste of Mumbai five stars.

“Excellent meal from this new take-out,” she said. “Delicious Naan fresh out of the tandoor, awesome Chicken Tikka masala, and of course had to try the Samosas which were the best I have had.  They have a really extensive and varied menu; more so than many of other restaurants in Hicksville.  I’ll be back to try some of the other dishes. You can sit and dine in as well.”

John J, from Syosset, said the food was authentic.

“Looking forward to trying other things on the menu, especially some of [the] goat  dishes.”

Location: 153 Levittown Parkway, Hicksville, (516) 261-9070.
