24-Hour Bagel Store And Deli, The Mackey Way, Opening in Mount Sinai

When Mt. Sinai Bagel Cafe closed, it left another hole in the shopping center that is seeing businesses come and go like a whack-a-mole. No sooner does a new business open when something else closes and the anchor of the shopping center off Route 15A in Mount Sinai remains empty, despite very preliminary talks to open a Whole Foods there.

Mt. Sinai Bagel Cafe was a favorite local bagel place and one of the few spots in the area to get a chopped salad. It also completed the Long Island trifecta of shopping centers: bagel store, pizzeria, Chinese takeout joint. (Some would say the new trifecta is a vape shop, liquor store and taco joint but Mt. Sinai Shopping Center has that too!)

Now, a new bagel store and deli called The Mackey Way is planning to open in the unit of the former Mt. Sinai Bagel Cafe. The owners were busy with interior work when we dropped by and we got a few details. The store is going to be a bagel store, delicatessen, and cafe but more importantly it will be open 24 hours. They say they will be opening in about two weeks or so.

No other details are available yet but we will update this story once we know more.
