American Standard Whiskey Bar & Grill Now Open in Bay Shore at Old Corks and Taps Location on Main Street
If you asked for whiskey, the new spot that opened in Bay Shore on Tuesday called American Standard Whiskey Bar & Grill has what you need to wet your whistle stocking over 250 different kinds of whiskey.
Some of the harder to find bottles behind the bar include a Balvenie 27 year (which retails for upwards of two grand at some outlets), a Midleton Very Rare Irish Whiskey and the Johnny Walker King George V.
They also have 24 beers on tap, many of them local brews and a plethora of signature cocktails. Old fashioneds will be a centerpiece of the cocktail menu of course, including something called a Cornbread Old Fashioned and a Smoked Pecan Old Fashioned.
The menu consists of Southern Comfort type of food. On the snack menu are fried pickles, hush puppies, crab cakes and frito pie. Want a brisket sammie – that’s on the menu, is a Nashville hot chicken sandwich and a shrimp po boy. There’s a whole slate of burgers, including a Rhythm & Blues Burger which is topped with caramelized onion jam, crumbled blue cheese, pickled jalapeno peppers, lettuce and tomato on a sesame bun. Like any respectable place that claims to have southern comfort food they offer chicken and waffles. There’s also shrimp and grits, chicken fried steak and a 16 oz. cowboy steak for supper. Pecan pie, strawberry shortcake or whoopie pie with devil’s food cake, vanilla cream and powdered sugar round out the dessert portion of the menu.
It is, as a manager who answered the phone at the new restaurant, what Bay Shore needed. American Standard Whiskey Bar & Grill is at 53 West Main Street in the old Corks and Taps spot, which bowed out at the beginning of the year.
American Standard Whiskey Bar & Grill is open seven days a week. Monday through Friday they are open at 11:30am for lunch and will be open on Saturday and Sunday at 10am for brunch. Weekday happy hour is from 3-6pm.
