Bayberry Opens in Islip in Newly Renovated Space, Formerly Maxwell’s

Bayberry, a new restaurant on Main Street in Islip, is set to celebrate their official opening on Thursday, June 22nd. The restaurant is currently in their soft opening phase.

The new restaurant from the Lessing’s Hospitality Group – owners of Library Cafe in Farmingdale, Mirabelle Tavern in Stony Brook, and Post Office Cafe in Babylon – replaces Maxwell’s, which closed last summer.

Bayberry is a 5,000 square foot American bistro with a 40-seat bar, an outdoor patio, and private event space for more than 160 people.

The redesigned space features a lighter color palette reminiscent  and a menu focused on local catch, coupled with a dedicated raw bar. Signature dishes include Local Fluke “En Croute,” the Lobster Roll, and the Bayberry Chicken.

Bayberry will be open seven days a week and feature a festive weekend brunch, private events for up to 160 guests, as well as happy hour from Monday to Thursday.
