Bodhis Beach Shack Owner Opening Buoy 35 at Former JT’s on The Bay Spot
An owner at Bodhis Beach Shack, the summer beach bar in Blue Point, is taking over the old JT’s on The Bay spot at 1 Curtis Road also in Blue Point. The new spot will be called Buoy 35.
JT’s closed last season.
A post on Bodhis Beach Shack Instagram page advertises that Buoy 35 is hiring for all positions. An Instagram page at buoy_35 quietly came online about six months with little teasers at what’s to come, including a video of a buoy being hauled out of the back of a truck with the caption “First project at Buoy 35! I think @scotti317 hit this years ago! 😂😂 All the way from Key Marathon!!!”
(Scotty Campbell (@scotti317) is the co-owner, along with Mark Miller, of the legendary Dublin Deck on Patchogue River, which has been in business now for a quarter of a century!)
The first post on the Buoy 35 Instagram read “Coming soon! #summer #2023”
According to a snippet in The Hospitality Legend, “Chris Brehenny hung up his sales career a few years ago and now is on his way to opening his 3rd, maybe 4th business. Bodhis, The Wayward Cafe & now, The Buoy (formally JT’s).”
No opening date has been announced formally yet. The only clue is an event posted on local musician Tom Donovan’s Facebook page announcing “The Donovan Project debuts at Buoy 35,” which could be the planned grand opening.
We have reached out to Buoy 35 to get more on the planned opening.
