Brazico Brazilian Mexican Kitchen & Bar Opens at Former Francesco’s Pizzeria Spot in Amityville

A new restaurant called Brazico has put together a fusion of Brazilian and Mexican food has opened in Amityville, in the former location of  Francesco’s Pizzeria. Brazico Brazilian Mexican Kitchen & Bar opened up in December at 217 Broadway.

The pizzeria was extensively renovated to create Brazico.

Co-owner Marcelle Torres said that they mixed the two styles of food to try to “create something new.”

The menu at Brazico features appetizers like their Pastéis (Brazilian Empanadas), Tapioca Dice (fried yucca with cheese squares), Spicy Calabresa Acebolada (Sautéed Brazilian sausage with yucca fries) , and Bolinha de queijo (Crispy cheese croquettes). On their Facebook page, the restaurant touts the Coxinha.

“One of the most popular street foods in Brazil,” they explain. “It is a deep-fried croquette made of shredded chicken covered in a soft dough, which, after breaded and fried, becomes a crunchy crust.”

As well, Brazico recommends the Feijoada, black beans simmer with pork until tender and are served with sautéed collard greens, white rice, oranges, and farofa (sautéed yucca flavor).

“It’s rich and so flavorful, you definitely should try it next time you visit us,” they say.
