Castaways Steak & Seafood in Port Jefferson Set to Open Before Valentine’s Day
John Sarno – owner of the long-planned Castaways Steak & Seafood at 106 Main Street in the former location of The Village Way – said that if all goes well his new restaurant in Port Jefferson Village will be open in early February.
“Right before Valentine’s Day,” Sarno said. “If everything falls into place.”
Sarno, who also owns The Village Idiot, Drift 82 and Chops Steakhouse, set his sights on Port Jefferson for his next endeavor last June. The menu will combine the best of what he already serves at Drift 82 and Chops but will have some exciting new items.
“A lot of the seafood items from Drift 82 in Patchogue that are best sellers will be at Castaway,” said Sarno. “Chops is doing phenomenal and we will introduce those cuts at Castaway.”
But the menu will not just duplicate what he has already done before at his other eateries.
“The menu will have an exciting new flair and we have a whole new lunch menu,” he teased.
Castaways is hiring for all front of house positions and they unveiled a new version of their logo.
Barring any unforeseen complications or red tape, Castaways will open its doors the weekend before Valentine’s Day. In total the restaurant will be able to accommodate 77 people including the bar area. Sarno expects to be able to extend that in the warmer months with an additional 60 people on the outside patio.
Sarno says the excitement is building for them to open.
“There’s a lot of fanfare behind us,” he said.
