Denny’s Closing in North Babylon, Leaving One Location on Long Island in Centereach

And then there was one. Denny’s in North Babylon is planning to close its doors leaving Centereach as the only location on Long Island. An employee who answered the phone at the North Babylon restaurant said that they were told the store is closing before the end of January.

“We were told the second or the third week in January,” the person said.

The Denny’s in North Babylon is at 1143 Deer Park Avenue in the Stables Garden shopping center. Denny’s took over the site from the Continental Diner after it closed in 2014.

After Centereach, the next closest Denny’s is in Queens.

At one point, the franchisee for the North Babylon Denny’s had plans to expand on Long Island. Denny’s, famous for its Grand Slam Breakfast, also had locations in Carle Place and Levittown but both of those closed over the years.

At the Denny’s in Centereach – off Middle Country Road in the Walmart shopping center – an employee said they were not planning to close that store and that they have a different owner than the one in North Babylon.

“It means more business for us,” the employee said.
