Former Commack Mattress Store to be Razed for New Starbucks
A building that once housed a Sleepy’s and then a MattressFirm store will be torn down to make way for a new Starbucks at that location, according to Smithtown Planning Board records.
The 8,007-square-foot building at 2061 Jericho Turnpike in Commack will be replaced with a 2,151-square-foot Starbucks with a drive-thru.
This site is next to an existing Starbucks and the company plans to move next door in the new space once construction is complete, according to a proposal by Liam Trotta from the Smithtown planning department.

“Are they going to demolish the current Starbucks and incorporate that into this site plan, or no?” Smithtown Council Member Tom Lohmann asked.
Trotta said it’s not part of their proposal and he did not know of any plans yet for the existing Starbucks building next door.
“There’ll be a double queue, drive-through windows on the west side of the building, and there’ll be one curb cut on Jericho Turnpike,” Trotta said.
Cars will be funneled from two lanes into one in the drive-thru.
The board conditionally approved the site plan on June 6th.
