Get Ready! Moe’s First-Ever Burrito Eating Contest Set For Saturday September 30th in West Babylon

Come hungry and possibly leave with free burritos for a whole year from Moe’s. The restaurant’s first-ever burrito eating contest on Long Island is set to happen at the West Babylon Moe’s on Saturday, September 30th at 3pm. The new location will host a grand opening on Thursday, September 28th for the store at 713-761 Sunrise Highway in West Babylon.

“To our knowledge there has never been a burrito eating contest held by Moe’s of Long Island,” said a spokesperson for the store by email.

During the official grand opening of the location on Thursday, Moe’s will offer $6.99 burritos and burrito bowls all day long. A Family Fun Day on Saturday including the burrito battle royale is a part of the celebration.

The first-of-a-kind contest will have contestants scarfing down as many mini burritos as they can for the chance to win free burritos for an entire year. Officially the burritos eaten during the contest will be the Moe’s Kids Burrito.

Here are the rules:

  • All contestants must be 18 years or older and complete a release waiver onsite
  • Each contestant will be presented with the same amount of mini burritos
  • The winner will be determined as the contestant who consumes and finishes the most amount of burritos within the contest’s designated 5-minute time period
  • The burritos must be eaten in their entirety to count—not a shred of lettuce or a bean left behind!
  • Participants are able to withdraw at any point in the competition
  • No outside food or drink is allowed

“We do not have confirmation from the manager what ingredients will be in them but they will all be the same for all contestants,” said the spokesperson.

The winner will be allowed one free burrito or burrito bowl every week for an entire year.

Saturday’s Family Fun Day will also include a DJ, face painters, local fire departments and WBLI will also be on hand. The burrito eating contest was a way to make the day even more unique.

“We really wanted to celebrate and make the opening of this location special for the community,” said the Moe’s spokesperson. “The Burrito Eating Contest was the perfect way to do that.”
