Iconic Good Steer Restaurant in Lake Grove Has Been Sold

After sitting vacant for almost a year-and-a-half, The Good Steer restaurant property at 2810 Middle Country Road in Lake Grove has sold. The sale price of the property was $3.4 million, according to a report published in Long Island Business News.

The article also mentions the 7-Eleven on an adjacent property at 2820 Middle Country Road had previously been sold to the same buyer.

A listing for the property on commercial real estate website Loopnet.com advertises the 7,600-square-foot building on a 1.9-acre site.

A YouTuber went to the property in September and filmed both abandoned properties peeking inside The Good Steer building. The 7-Eleven building had been completely gutted and it looked like The Good Steer interior was also being ripped apart.

The Good Steer closed suddenly in July 2022 after over 65 years in business, much to the dismay of locals who remember the restaurant for their comfort food, especially the onion rings. The lighted up The Good Steer restaurant sign was also iconic with a steer sporting a halo. The restaurant first opened in 1957.

There is no mention of what the new owners will do with the property. We have reached out to people involved with the transaction for more information. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
