Layers Bakeshop Opens in Westbury
Halal bakery cooks up cupcakes that are lighter and fluffier than the typical American version.
Serving up what they call a product that is “lighter and fluffier than the typical American cupcakes,” Layers Bakeshop opened this spring, importing the concept from a Pakistani shop.
According to a Newsday article, owner Asad Mayan secured the rights to open up this halal bakery in America. By not using typical ingredients in their baking like butter and cream, the results are softer and lighter.
But these are not Pakistani sweets. They are European and English style goods all baked on premises. And they have been getting rave reviews online.
Rome N, a reviewer from Old Bethpage, has even started a running list, ranking his favorite flavors on Yelp.
“I think we came here every other day to pick up cupcakes,” he said. “We even got our friends hooked on to this spot.”
Diana M, said it’s her new favorite bake shop.
“This place is so cute and perfect for a quick easy way to grab some delicious treats,” she said. “The cupcakes are out of this world amazing and the brownies literally melted in my mouth… Absolutely outstanding! They also have beautiful cakes for any occasion! Definitely check them out!!!”
Sally N, from New Hyde Park, called the cu[pcakes “mind blowing delicious.”
“So perfect,” she wrote. “Frosting is not overly sweet, but still velvety smooth. The cake part is divine too.”
