Over 100 Long Island pizzerias will be donating $5 from every pizza pie sold today, Wednesday October 25th to raise money for the victims and families of the Farmingdale High School bus tragedy on September 21st and support the community’s healing process through the Long Island Pizza Strong fundraiser.

According to organizers of Long Island Pizza Strong, 100% of the proceeds will be distributed to all families of those injured, families of Gina Pellettiere and Bea Ferrari, and the Farmingdale High School marching band.

If you buy a pie from one of the participating pizzerias post on Facebook and Instagram and tag @lipizzastrong and use the hashtag #lipizzastrong.

The fundraiser was put together by Anthony Laurino, owner of Phil’s Pizzeria in Syosset, Jim Serpico from Side Hustle Bread and Alyssa Guidice, who is also the founder of the popular Dine-LI foodie Facebook group. Organizers were able to get 135 pizza places to join the cause.

In a phone interview with Guidice, she said that while promoting for a different fundraiser, the Farmingdale bus tragedy happened. They started making plans to create some type of fundraiser to support the Farmingdale community and the idea for Long Island Pizza Strong was hatched.

She said that the Slice pizza app offered to match donations of the participating places if people order their pizza pie through the app for a total of $10.
