Owners of La Espiguita Bakery Buy Former Chase Bank Branch in Brentwood, Planning a Drive-thru Bakery

After a lot of interest in a property at 1800 Brentwood Road in Brentwood, the former Chase bank branch has sold to the owners of a local bakery who plan to open up an ancillary shop with a drive through. If all goes well, the owners of La Espiguita Bakery with locations at 1995 Brentwood Road in Brentwood and at 1639 Islip Avenue in Central Islip, will bring their Colombian bakery to a third location.

On Yelp, the owner describes going to La Espiguita Bakery as being “transported to Colombia where you can buy our amazing breads, pastries, or lunch items.”

La Espiguita Bakery first opened its Central Islip location in 1998 followed a year later by Brentwood.

The deal for 1800 Brentwood Road was facilitated by Dan Abbondandolo, Joe Musso and Joegy Raju of Cushman & Wakefield who also represented the seller, JP Morgan Chase.

Musso told LongIslandRestaurants.com that there was a lot of interest in the property.

“People wanted to use it for banks, medical, restaurants,” he said in a phone interview.

Musso said that the property was listed for $1.2m million but ultimately sold for $1.45 million He said the plan for now is to keep both Brentwood locations open even though they are practically across the street from each other.

“It’s a great bakery,” he said. “They sell everything. It’s not your average bakery. They do great numbers.”

The property raised was especially attractive because it has sewer hook up and plenty of parking making it a good location for a restaurant.

We have reached out to the owners of La Espiguita Bakery and will update this story with more information when it becomes available.
