Peppermint Trend is the New Pumpkin Spice: Where to Get the Latest Fad Flavor on Long Island

Pumpkin Spice is so two years ago. At least that’s how long economists say sales of the fall flavor have been dropping. According to numbers reported in Fortune, unit sales of pumpkin spice have decreased 1.5% year over year, after flatlining the year before.

There might be a number of reasons for the decline including the pumpkin-spicing of just about everything from lattes to air fresheners to Goldfish? Even Long Island’s own Tate’s Bake Shop made a Pumpkin Spice Cookie. It could be that consumers are just oversaturated by pumpkin spice.

So enter: Peppermint!

Sure, we’ve had candy canes and Peppermint Patty and Peppermint Patties but the flavor has also been sneaking into your favorite brand of coffee years and the trend is on the rise. Tastewise, a restaurant market platform that tracks food trends, says that social conversations about peppermint have increased by almost 22% over the past year and about 8% of restaurants offer peppermint on their menus.

Can peppermint Goldfish be far behind?
