Plans to Replace Burger King in Blue Point With McDonald’s Moving Forward
McDonalds is dethroning the Burger King in Blue Point. An updated plan submitted to Brookhaven Town proposes to tear down the Burger King on Montauk Highway in Blue Point to construct a new McDonald’s with a drive thru on the site.
The Burger King closed down last year and McDonald’s has had a plan to build on the site since at least last July, according to public records.
Burger King said they would be closing around 300-400 stores as part of their “reclaim the flame” campaign to boost the fast food brand in the U.S., which involved store closings and included millions of dollars in renovations, dubbed the “royal reset.”
Store closings have allowed competitors to capitalize and move into former locations.
