Popeyes Restaurant Proposed For Former Bank Building on Motor Parkway in Hauppauge

A developer is looking to convert the old HSBC bank building at 660 Motor Parkway in Hauppauge into a Popeyes restaurant with a drive thru. As part of the application with the Town of Islip, the developer is looking for a change of zoning from business 1 to business 3 with a special permit to operate a fast food restaurant on the property. They are also looking for a waiver of the 40,000 minimum lot area requirement for a fast food restaurant.

Plans call for a two lane drive thru with two order boards with room for 12 cars to queue up in line. The 2,529-square-foot restaurant would provide seating for 24 diners, according to the plans. Parking would accommodate 27 spaces, two of which would be ADA stalls. The requirement for a restaurant of this size is 26 spaces.

The property has been available for lease since at least October 2020, according to online commercial real estate listing service Property Shark.
