Swanky New York City Restaurant, T-Bar, Set to Open in Roslyn at Former Brass Swan Location

Tony Fortuna, the restaurant owner and host who had made an indelible mark on the scene in New York City with his T-Bar restaurant, passed away from pancreatic cancer in early January. With news of a new T-Bar opening in Roslyn – at the former Brass Swan location, which closed last fall – it seems that right up to the end, the congenial restaurateur had something new up his sleeve.

There have been a lot of moves for T-Bar in the last few years. Fortuna’s restaurant is a staple in the Upper East Side of Manhattan – taking up new digs after losing the lease on its regular spot in the neighborhood after 27 years. This is also not the popular restaurant’s first foray on Long Island, with a Southampton location at 268 Elm Street; closed for the season. T-Bar now has announced the opening of its Roslyn venture at 1363 Old Northern Boulevard on Instagram.

“Delivering you another sexy & sultry T Bar,” the restaurant teased, showing off some interior shots in the post.

It indeed has the modern elegance you’d expect from T-Bar.

The location has seen a few incarnations rise and fall over the decades. Brass Swan lasted only a year. Before that, Roslyn Social had been in the spot since 2019 and previously it had been the home of MP Taverna. Once, the property was the site of an historic building built in the late 1800s (it housed the offices and pressroom of the Roslyn News at one time) but that burned down in 2008, according to a Roslyn Landmark Society article. It was reconstructed to mimic the original design.

No specific opening date has been set yet but is a website for the location that says the restaurant will be opening Spring 2024.

Not much is known yet about the new spot, only that past might be prescient so we can expect fine food, chops, cocktails and elegance all around. We will update this story once we get more information.
