Tauk at Trails End, Historic Montauk Restaurant Property, Is Up For Sale

Michael Nasti, who bought the historic Trails End restaurant at 63 South Euclid Avenue in Montauk back in 2015, has put the property up for sale. Listed with Real Estate Agent Dave Ryan at Town & Country, the .29-acre site includes the restaurant building and a residential home on the same property. It’s listed for $4.7 million.

Nasti reportedly paid $2.2 million when he first purchased it. He then put money into a renovation project upgrading the restaurant but preserving its historic look and feel.

Trails End was originally opened back in 1927 and is said to have been Montauk’s first (and oldest) running restaurant. Nasti renamed it Tauk at Trails End and opened it up year-round.

“It’s easy to open for four months and board it up for the winter, but that’s not fair to Montauk,” he told Curbed Hamptons in 2015. “We will find the way to make it work.”

Ryan, the listing agent, has lived in Montauk for over four decades. He is the ex-chief of the Montauk Fire Department and has been a real estate agent in the area for 26 years. He said that selling the spot is bittersweet for Nasti.

“He really loves the business,” he told LongIslandRetaurants.com in a phone interview.

The property has the three best things in real estate going for it, according to Ryan.

“Location. Location. Location,” his listing reads.

It was originally built on the shores of Fort Pond Bay and moved to its current location in the 1930’s.

The house on the property has 6-bedrooms and 2 baths and common area. Ideally it can be used as a staff property or for the owner to live in. The property is zoned commercial so it can be used for multiple purposes. Ryan said the restaurant building can even have a second story added to it. In the restaurant there’s room for 70 diners inside and 70 more outside. It’s been on the market since last October.

Ryan said as far as he knows, the idea is to operate the restaurant until it sells. Nasti has a particular attachment to the place.

“It’s his baby,” Ryan said.
