Three TGI Fridays Restaurants on Long Island Have Closed, Here’s Why

TGI Fridays has closed down 36 stores across the country recently, which they deemed as underperforming. Of those locations TGI Fridays in Bay Shore, Massapequa Park, and Islandia report they are permanently closed.

The company also announced the sale of eight previously corporate-owned restaurants in the Northeast to former CEO Ray Blanchette as a franchisee.

“As we continue along our path of transformation to revitalize the Fridays brand and implement a long-term growth strategy, we see a bright future for TGI Fridays,” said Weldon Spangler, CEO of TGI Fridays.

As part of the store closures, TGI Fridays is offering more than 1,000 transfer opportunities, which represents over 80% of total impacted employees.

Reports say that among the now-shuttered stores there were seven in New Jersey, six in Massachusett, five in New York and Texas and Virginia had four each.

Other remaining locations on Long Island seem to be unaffected, including the recently-renovated Farmingville TGI Fridays.
