Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is Coming to Long Island With Shop At Roosevelt Field Mall

New York City-based Van Leeuwen Ice Cream shop is opening up in Roosevelt Field Mall, the company’s first Long Island location, according to an announcement made by the ice cream maker.

What started out with two trucks hobbled together from used hand-painted post office vehicles in New York City by brothers Pete and Ben Van Leeuwen along with their friend Laura O’Neill in 2008 has expanded into a brand that has gone supernova. Ironically, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is very hot right now and in the space of less than a decade, the company has grown from its humble beginnings to a chain that has almost 50 shops and is in almost 10,000 grocery stores. (Did we mention on day one Whole Foods approached the founders about a wholesale deal?)

Their New York stores are primarily in New York City but now, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is expanding to Long Island with plans to open in Roosevelt Field Mall.

With its simple yet bold branding, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is highly recognizable. The company prides itself on making good ice cream that makes you feel good.

In a statement that was published in TimeOut New York, Ben Van Leeuwen said they were “ excited to enter Long Island.”

No opening date has been announced yet. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
