California Pizza Kitchen at Smith Haven Mall Closes Down
Fans of California-style pizza are going to have to go a little further afield for their favorite pie. The California Pizza Kitchen at Smith Haven Mall has closed for good. A call to the restaurant was met with a recorded message that only said, “Our Smith Haven location has closed. We loved serving the Lake Grove community and thank you for your patronage.”
California Pizza Kitchen was located in the Lifestyle Village Courtyard across from Dick’s Sporting Goods. It has already been removed from the Smith Haven Mall online directory.
The nearest California Pizza Kitchen is in Huntington at Walt Whitman Shops at 160 Walt Whitman Road. It’s now the only California Pizza Kitchen left on Long Island.
The restaurant, which was launched back in 1985 in Beverly Hills, California and is known to have introduced the world to barbecue chicken pizza.
Someone who answered the phone at the Huntington location said they did not know why the Smith Haven location closed down but hoped that their California Pizza Kitchen would remain open.
Smith Haven Mall’s restaurant scene is seeing a lot of action lately. A Ford’s Garage nostalgic themed restaurant is planning to open there and a Japan-based revolving sushi chain called Kura Sushi has eyes on a new spot at the Smith Haven Mall in 2024.
